Our team

How the newsroom works

We are a small Tamil-language newsroom, deliberately. A flat structure lets the team move quickly between desks and keeps decision-making close to the people doing the reporting. The chief editor sets direction; the executive and founding editors own their sections; reporters own their beats; the creative desk carries the look. Big decisions — investigations, retractions, corrections that name a person — are taken in the room, not over email. This page exists so readers know whose judgement to trust, and whom to write to when something feels wrong.

Three documents govern how this desk works. They are not marketing pages. Reporters and editors are held to them in practice, and readers can hold us to them in public:

• Fact-checking policy — how stories are verified before they run, including our rules on named sources and AI assistance.
• Ethics policy — independence, conflicts of interest, sponsored-content labelling, anonymity, reporting on minors, and what we will not publish.
• Corrections policy — how to report an error, the SLA for review, and how a correction is recorded on the live page.
